You were supposed to be my distraction 
To take my mind off of my heart that was fractioned; 
To place into yesterday the regrets of my actions.
But when I least expected it, you became the center of my attraction.

I wasn't expecting to find acceptance in someone else's eyes
After having just fallen prey to abuse dressed in love's disguise.
Thought it impossible that I would find my wings again and be able to rise
Back up from the ashes. You were, you are, my beautiful surprise. 

Perhaps you fall short in the way of comprehending how much it means to me
To connect with someone who understands the meaning behind my spirituality
Who awakens the burning flames of my long-repressed and unexpressed sensuality
Whose very existence brings the idea of an actual soul connection into reality. 

But it's way simpler than that. 

It's the fact that I find it difficult to take my mind off of you, 
That when I'm at my lowest, you're the one I want to turn to,
And that every joyful situation I want to share with you.
I know that this may sound crazy, but I promise it's all true. 

So, again and again I play the words over in my mind
That may have sealed my fate as only a friend from now 'til the end of time
And while my lips cannot retract what has already been spoken, I wish they could find
The words to express this deep-seated, heart-wrenching, excruciating regret of mine.
