Do The Right Thing Book Released by Spike Lee
Sunday, December 05, 2010

One of Hip Hop's favorite flicks comes to a book with photographs, interviews, and a look at cultural impact, including a role in the President and First Lady's love.

1989 film Do The Right Thing is widely remembered in the Hip Hop community. The Spike Lee "joint" featured a monstrous soundtrack including Public Enemy's "Fight The Power," as well as influenced emcees ranging from Ludacris to U-N-I in videos, verses and more.

21 years later, Do The Right Thing is coming to a book, written by Spike Lee and Jason Matloff. Available this holiday season, the book will use behind the scenes photography, interviews, and information previously unreleased with the DVD packaging of the film. The book also looks at the racially-charged film's impact since its release, including being the focus of a first date between President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.
